Baa'

Hi,

Yesterday, we had another Arabic letter. It is Baa'. Baa' is for bab (door), bortokala (orange), baghbaghan (parrot) and baba. Sarah also circled the words that begin with letter Baa', she did some tracing and amazingly, she could write it on her own. What??? This little girl couldn't trace a couple of months ago!!! 

Even her drawings became understandable. However, I don't interfere in her free drawing. I don't imply or guess what she is drawing, I just mention some facts like, "I see you're using the purple color." and " I can see your circle" and by then, she would tell me what she is drawing. She loves her drawings and is so creative in her mind. Today, she drew what I thought was a face (on my mind of course), I could see the eyes, nose and mouth and out of nowhere, she drew crazy curls, I told myself this is hair for sure but no, she told me she drew an ugly monster :)

As I told you, I've been preparing for a big theme, one that will occupy us for weeks, maybe even a month! I am almost ready for it so we might start working on it tomorrow or after tomorrow. We'll see!

Alif

Hi,

Yesterday was our first official Arabic Day. I gave Sarah her notebook and she was so happy about it. We listened to this song several times, Sarah liked it and started trying to sing with it.

Then, I gave her all the cards that have the letter "Alif, أ"  to glue on the first page, of course, she insisted on doing it on her own :) At this point, I was saying, "I see you're gluing letter "أ". I got all my sheets from these 2 rich sources here and here, thank you.

Then, she started gluing the pictures that begin with this letter "arnab (rabbit), Anf (nose), Ozon (ear), ananas (pineapple)".  I think she got the hang of it because she then mentioned daddy's name "Ahmed" as an example of what starts with "Alif". She gave me some more examples (asad (lion)) which I wrote down for her.

I have already made a stamp of letter "alif" using a baby's food cover (Yes, I feed my baby Gerber, don't hate me, lol). I used foam but for an error, I should have put the "hamza" facing the opposite way.

Alif is the first letter in "Allah" so it was a chance to get her to know that. Now when asked, "who is your Lord?" she can proudly answer "Allah". Of course, she had to color the word "Allah" and glue it. Also, she can visually recognize it now.

I don't know what you call these blocks but I found them on the dollar store and knew that we would use them one day. I found the idea (as far as I remember) on PAHMs blog, again thank you.

Remember the sand that I bought a few weeks ago from the dollar store, it came to use. I like their quality and sparkle :)
