Late!

Hi all,
I know everyone has finished "back to school" theme, we also did but I am late in blogging so here it is. First, I have to mention that I am impressed with Sarah. In a couple of months (in which we rarely did any activity), she is able to use the scissors pretty well. She is counting now till 20. She knows how to do patterns and sort according to size. I think her daycare helped in this a lot.

On the other hand, Little Miss Farida is driving me bonkers. She is screaming non stop, how dare we take something from her? She takes everything from Sarah and throws it away. Sarah can't take it anymore and is starting to play rough with her. Farida is also able to walk 5-6 steps on her own. However, she doesn't say any words, not even baba or mama. She does random sounds but not a word. It is starting to concern me :(

Here we go, thank you 2teachingmommies, I printed all the materials from there:

Sharpening the pencil, lol!

Scavenger hunt!

I have no idea what caused this face!

Sorting according to size

Phonics

This tongue was out throughout the whole cutting process, lol

Roll & graph!

Thank you for being with us!

Mcdonalds!

Hi.
Don't worry, we didn't go to Mcdonalds and we are not promoting it, lol. We had some pretend play yesterday and it was about restaurants. If I had the sign of "The Manor" or something, I know that Sarah wouldn't know what I mean so Mcdonalds did the trick ;) We had a sign, a menu and Sarah had her money and phone. I think this was the first time since Sarah was born that she eats without getting up or jumping. It was so peaceful and she enjoyed it the most. Here:

I added prices to the items.

Yes, I had to sit with her in this tiny chair.
Why not in the dining room? It is a MESS:)

Her fake, real money and credit cards :)

Choosing from the menu.

Looking for money to pay.

You have to pardon the mess in the back, Sarah jumps on it :)

Making sure it is the correct amount.

LOST:D

Speaking on the her phone and telling her friends she was in Mcdonalds.
See that smile!

For older kids, it can be used for addition or multiplication as well.
After finishing our meals, Sarah said that she wants to go to the bank, lol. I asked her why she wants to go there, she said, "To sit there for a while." Apparently, every time we go to do a transaction there, she sits for a long time. I explained that we go to the bank either to deposit money or withdraw money. She said she wants to deposit money, this girl has a lot of money.
At night, we played the hopping frogs game and she is getting better and better in it. Then, we did some pattern blocks. I printed and laminated from Prekinders, thank you :)

I didn't think she will be able to do the black and white one but I gave it a shot and to my amazement, she did with no help whatsoever.

Today is our Arabic day. To make it fun and attractive for Sarah, I made her a personalized notebook. I am not crafty so it was an amateur's try but I love it. She helped me add the stickers but she still doesn't know that it is hers, I am sure she'll be happy when she finds out.

Tissue papers!

Added transparent sticky book cover.

I'll add a few papers at a time.

Thank you for joining us, come back soon.

Toothpaste!

Hi,
It's Sunday again. Do you still know what this means? It means we had Science fun :) I've been reading about the elephant toothpaste experiment everywhere. Do you know this phenomenon when you think about something for the first time or out of the blue and then you find the whole universe thinking about it with you at the same time? To do this experiment, you have to use Hydrogen peroxide. All of a sudden, the dollar store had it in its new arrivals and I was so glad. Unfortunately, it has 3% only which is relatively week but it will do. So, you will need:
  • a soda bottle
  • hydrogen Peroxide
  • dish washing soap
  • warm water
  • dry yeast
  • food color (optional)

Food color

Add 1 cup of hydrogen peroxide

1 squirt of dish soap

Mix well for 30 seconds

Add 2 tablespoons of warm water.

Add 1 table spoon of dry yeast to the water.

Stir well.

Add to the bottle.

Look at that expression :)

Here, she told me to make it stop, lol.

Touching it.

We did the experiment one more time but this time using red food color and doubling all the ingredient quantities.

Don't you love it?

I always give instructions or set the rules before we begin but with this, I did not. I wanted to know how Sarah will react with it. I know it might be obvious to everyone but I'm still exploring my kids' potentials. Anyway, Sarah did it all on her own and I was so pleased. I even prepared dinner while she was busy doing it but at the beginning she laid all the panels in front of her and added a piece here and there. She kept doing this for 15 minutes and then she told me she wants to do the sun. So, I took away the other panels for her to be able to focus and that was all the help I offered.

Then, the fish :)

Getting to ground level to see which part is missing ;)

And then, a flower.

And finally, a butterfly :)

Now, Farida's turn. I introduced our treasure box today. She was so excited about it, she has very curious eyes :)

Of course, you can guess who was standing beside her,
ready to jump in and play with the box.
Farida so excited to look at the mirror.

How am I supposed to hold all these with my tiny hands, mama?

Here, she was banging her hands over and over and over.

Tasting the sponge.
By the way, her fingers couldn't hold the bottle with the rice.

Can I eat this stone?

Please note, you have to do this under very close supervision. Do what you feel comfortable in doing and leave what you don't.
Thank you for reading, come back soon and I promise, we'll have more fun :)
Love,
