A Little Of Everything!

Hi,
Can you believe I'm still organizing? I can't believe this tiny room contains all this stuff, lol. We added a dress-up corner (not really a corner). Of course, it is just a start and we'll be adding a lot to it but it will take time and a budget. Thank you my dear friend, Liz. Liz will be sending us a doctor's costume :) We love you but you already know that, lol. We also added some mirrors on the door to add space and to play with the reflections. I found more food colors and colored more rice and alphabet pasta. Here are the pictures:

Isn't it more lively?!

We did some sensory activities with Farida, Sarah loved seeing her little sister laughing. I started by demonstrating to Sarah and she imitated me. We started from the feet up and gave her the materials to hold. When Farida was little and not interacting, Sarah was so frustrated and sometimes even aggressive. Now, after Farida started giggling, babbling and sharing us our play, Sarah couldn't be happier. I can picture close sisters in the future. Here:
A feather, a gem, a pom pom, a sensory apple,
a tissue and Sarah brought a car :)

So relaxed and happy!

By the end of the day, we did something we have been doing for a couple of days so far. It was a hit. It was story time and I thought about using the miniature items and incorporate them in our story events. This story is borrowed from the library and we had most of the items already. The best part was Sarah searching for the items with me. We gave Farida everything to touch. Sarah re-told us the story afterwards and I asked her a lot of follow-up questions.

A grasshopper (bug), a foam dog, a car, a zip, a fish,
a bat, a kite and little people.

Curious eyes!
One more random thing: I went to the kitchen to drink and came back to see this <3

Thank you for reading. Come back tomorrow! We'll be here :)

A little here and there...

Hi,
Life has been far from perfect the last few days. Emergency rooms, allergic reactions, blood tests, many last minute (since we are travelling) appointments and tons of shopping. Both mommy and the little girl are worn out and accordingly both of them are not acting as best as they can. Mommy has been short of temper and Sarah feeds on that. This emphasizes the meaning of trial and error for which this blog was created so we need to reconnect and I think tomorrow might be perfect for it since it is Sunday and mommy has some holidays-themed science experiments ready;) Anyway, Sarah has been asking to play over and over again and mommy had to do something so today, while Sarah was eating her yogurt, mommy prepared a sensory tub in 5 minutes. The theme is "Letter F". She loved it. It contained, flowers, Fs, 4s, a fan, a fox, fish, a feather and 2 flags (Egyptian flag and American flag). After we finished playing with it, Sarah got to know which one is the Egyptian flag and which one is the American one. Now, she also knows: fox, fan and that birds have feathers, lol. I put in some beads (brought from the dollar tree store) and they come in a flower shape container. This helped later in so many things, wait and see.

So, we of course used the beads for beading which Sarah spent 30 whole minutes to do only 4 beads before getting bored/frustrated and then, we used it in sorting;) She did it almost perfectly except that she constantly misplaced the medium and the small green beads. Honestly speaking, I don't blame her, the difference is minimal. Anyway, it took 30 more minutes until she finished all of them and she was so sleepy by then because of the meds. I was frustrated that I didn't have a frog to put in the sensory tub but I made it up for myself when we read the book, "Jump, Frog, Jump" that we got from the library.
That was all for today and again, I'm so sorry for our short posts.

A love for books!

Hi,
Sarah loves loves reading books. I don't have a lot of money to buy every book she likes but we have the public library and it works great. they have so many programs, puppet shows, preschool programs, crafts, ...etc. We go very often. Today, we went twice. Sarah faces the language barrier and we are trying to break that barier and work on it. Our library has the best librarians ever, they know everyone by name and they are so encouraging, fun and kind. They know that Sarah does not really speak English, she knows a lot of words but not sentences, they know that and work with her and her shyness:) We went twice today! and we came back with 4 books and placed a hold on 15 other books that we'll be getting tomorrow.

Thank you http://playathomemom3.blogspot.com/. Your blog is full of wonderful great ideas and we used one of them today. It was lovely!

^^ bath time.

We are a little busy nowadays getting ready for spending a month and a half in Egypt so we are getting last minute things. We will be leaving, God willing, after Christmas. I hope I can keep up the fun and work there especially that I'll be busy with my exams but daddy is so willing to work with his brilliant girls.
Thank you for reading.

Love,
Sherine
